Tourism Organization Unite in Bangkok

Three tourism organizations made history in Thailand when they came together for a joint lunch at the Sofitel Central Plaza Bangkok Hotel. Skål International Bangkok, PATA Thailand Chapter and the International Federation of Women’s Travel Organizations lunched together during the recent IFWTO Convention in Bangkok. IFWTO and Skål have a cooperative contractual arrangement with the Skål International Headquarters in Spain acting as the Federation’s Secretariat. PATA’s VP Operations, Lyn Hikida, was the keynote speaker at the Federation’s opening ceremony.

IFWTO Chairman Marilyn Byfield spoke about the relationship between the three organizations and the many advantages to be gained by having more of these cooperative functions. She also gave a progress report on the formation of GATTO, the Global Alliance of Travel and Tourism, Organizations, which IFWTO and Skål International are developing.

Skål International Bangkok President Brian Sinclair-Thompson welcomed all those present and said that this was a good networking opportunity for the local members to meet a number of their overseas associates. Pennants were presented by the local Skål Club to other Skål members present. A number of IFWTO members are also Skål members.
